IPL 2024 Points Table
- As the league stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 begins, 10 teams battle it out on the ground to gain prominence on the IPL points table. Only the top 4 teams progress to the playoffs at the end of the league stage while the bottom six would need to return home empty-handed. Chennai Super Kings had won the IPL 2023 season after beating the Gujarat Titans in the title-decider at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
- When it comes the league standings of the previous season, however, the Gujarat Titans had secured the No. 1 spot with 10 wins in 14 matches, followed by the Super Kings with 8 wins in 14 matches. Lucknow Super Giants (8 wins in 14 matches) and Mumbai Indians (8 wins in 14 matches) were the teams to complete the 4 playoffs spots.
- The competition for the top 4 spots is expected to get even more intense this time, with all 10 franchises bolstering their squads with top recruits in the IPL 2024 auction. The arrival of Mitchell Starc at Kolkata Knight Riders and Pat Cummins at Sunrisers Hyderabad is expected to make them real challengers for the playoffs positions this time.
- Royal Challengers Bangalore, with Faf du Plessis as their captain and Virat Kohli as the marquee batter, would be hopeful of breaking the IPL title duck. Rishabh Pant’s return to the Delhi Capitals squad is also a big boost, both to the franchise and the league overall.
- The new campaign begins with the defending champions Chennai Super Kings taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22 at Chepauk.
